The band called us saying they were running late, stuck in traffic.Of course this was fine by us, as usual we always like to take time to set up the equipment, walk through the surroundings one more time and make sure everything is ready for our clients just to step in the shot.
We of course had NO idea as to what was about to happen next.
Our standard equipment consists of a vagabond battery pack to power our lights.
This was attached to one of our lights/stands, Corey of course wanted the oh so perfect lighting as always......only this time it backfired on us.
The light, stand, battery pack, and pocket wizard went crashing off the small ledge he had it all balancing on to a eight foot hole below.
Not only was this a deep hole, it was boarded off.
We both stood in horror as thoughts raced throughout our heads of, how will we shoot this band, is our equipment broken, is our equipment lost, and what do we do now!
We took an extention cord, made a loop and literally fished for our equipment.
Somehow by the grace of God we were able to save all of our equimpment! Didn't even loose the tiny pocket wizard which was just hanging on top of the light at the time of the crash!
We were so relieved! Everything was back on track and we were ready to roll, that is until we tried to power up the light, no power, no lights. Apparently upon crashing one of the converters went byebye!
Meanwhile, the band drives up and were so excited to be doing the shoot.
We explained to the band what had happend.
Since we had all driven quite a ways to get there, we all decided to go on with the shoot.
We were able to use God given light of the sun and a few battery powered strobes!
As you can see, the photos turned out amazing.
Looking back, I doubt we would have changed a thing.
